Government pushes forward with EECiti project, investing 72 billion baht to mold Thailand into a smart medical hub
The Thai government is preparing to push forward the smart city development project in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) under the name "EECiti," with an investment value of 72 billion baht, to fully elevate Thailand into a global medical and wellness hub.
The core of this project is to create a smart city area that focuses on innovations in health and modern medicine. The government plans to conduct a "Market Sounding" to gather feedback from the private sector, aiming to attract investment and foster public-private partnerships in developing modern infrastructure.
Driving this project focuses on creating a comprehensive Medical Hub, which will help strengthen Thailand's health industry in terms of research, medical treatment, and the application of advanced technology to increase efficiency in caring for patients and the general public.
In addition to stimulating the economy through massive investment, the EECiti project is expected to create jobs and develop personnel in the medical and technology fields with higher skill sets, which will benefit the country's long-term growth.
In the next phase, the government will accelerate the implementation of the planned roadmap to make this project a reality. It is expected that the development of this medical smart city will be a significant step in making Thailand a key health destination for the region and the world.
