NHRC partners with UNICEF to launch a new, child-friendly complaint channel for Thai children
The National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRC), in collaboration with UNICEF Thailand, has launched a new complaint mechanism to more effectively protect children's rights in Thailand. The initiative focuses on creating a safe and accessible space where children and youth can confidently communicate the problems they encounter.
The mechanism is designed to be child-friendly, reducing complex procedures and using easy-to-understand language so that children affected by rights violations can access assistance directly. Furthermore, staff trained in child psychology are available to provide counseling, ensuring that children feel safe and receive appropriate care at every step.
This project stems from a collaboration between government agencies and international organizations to elevate the standards of child rights protection in Thailand in accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. It emphasizes that children's voices are important and should be taken seriously by adults and relevant agencies.
The launch of this complaint channel marks a significant step toward creating a society that prioritizes children's rights. The NHRC and UNICEF hope that this mechanism will make it easier for Thai children to access the justice system and help prevent child rights violations in the long term in a sustainable manner.
