MHESI Reveals 3-Strategy Plan to Propel Thailand Toward a High-Income Nation Through Science and Technology
Prof. Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), attended the 23rd STS Forum in Japan, where he delivered a special keynote address on the topic of 'Navigating Tectonic Shifts' to present a vision for national development through innovation.
During the lecture, Prof. Dr. Yodchanan unveiled a three-pronged strategic plan focused on utilizing science and technology as key tools to drive the Thai economy, with the ultimate goal of elevating Thailand out of the middle-income trap and into a high-income nation in the future.
The core of this strategic plan is to leverage Thailand's inherent 'natural capital' and integrate it with modern technology to sustainably create added value for domestic resources, which will help generate new opportunities for Thai businesses and the agricultural sector on the global stage.
Furthermore, MHESI is prioritizing international cooperation to exchange knowledge and new innovations, which will enable Thailand to effectively cope with the rapid changes occurring globally.
The announcement of this strategic plan marks a significant step for Thailand in demonstrating its international vision, aiming to build confidence among investors and foreign partners to collaborate in developing the Thai economy toward stable and sustainable growth through science and technology.
