Defense Minister issues urgent order to mobilize personnel and budget to assist flood victims nationwide
The flood situation in many areas of Thailand remains concerning, causing widespread impact on the lives and well-being of the public. Most recently, Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, issued an urgent order to the Ministry of Defense's Disaster Relief Center to accelerate efforts to assist affected citizens to the fullest extent of their capabilities.
The Minister of Defense has instructed relevant agencies to mobilize all available resources, including personnel, vehicles, engineering equipment, and rescue gear, to reach affected areas as quickly as possible. This is especially critical for areas that have been cut off or are difficult to access, ensuring that evacuation assistance and the distribution of essential supplies to victims are carried out thoroughly.
In addition to personnel, the Ministry has accelerated the allocation of emergency funds to support the operations of officials in the field, ensuring greater agility and efficiency. This action focuses on alleviating the immediate suffering of the public, as well as preparing recovery plans for areas once the water recedes so that citizens can return to their normal lives as soon as possible.
This operation represents an integrated collaboration between military units and local agencies to ensure that assistance is systematic and non-duplicative. The Ministry of Defense affirms that it will monitor the situation closely 24 hours a day to ensure that the public remains safe and receives the best possible care during this crisis.
