Prime Minister visits Songkhla to monitor flood prevention systems in Hat Yai District
The Prime Minister, accompanied by the cabinet, traveled to Songkhla province to monitor the progress of flood prevention systems, focusing on the Khlong Rian monkey cheek (water retention) project in Hat Yai District, which is a vital economic area that frequently experiences flooding during the rainy season.
The purpose of this visit was to inspect the efficiency of the drainage system and water management in the area. The government aims to reassure the people of Hat Yai District that they will be better equipped to handle water situations, thereby reducing the risks and potential damages caused by flooding.
The Khlong Rian monkey cheek project is part of the government's long-term water management plan to increase water storage capacity and help drain water out of Hat Yai city rapidly. The Prime Minister emphasized that the safety of the people is the top priority, and the government is ready to support the budget to develop infrastructure to be robust and fully functional.
Furthermore, the government has instructed relevant local agencies to monitor the water situation closely 24 hours a day to ensure they can alert the public and respond to emergencies in a timely manner should heavy rain continue in the future.
These operations reflect the government's efforts to systematically address natural disaster issues, aiming to provide confidence to the people of Hat Yai and tourists that this area will be safe from flooding in the long term.
