PM Orders Establishment of Oversight Committee for Loan Spending to Ensure Transparency
On July 10, the Thai government held an important meeting in Songkhla Province to discuss national budget spending guidelines. Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and high-ranking officials attended the meeting. The main agenda was the management of loan funds to ensure maximum efficiency.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of oversight by ordering the establishment of a "Screening Committee" to review various projects in detail. This step must occur before the Cabinet considers approving the use of loan funds, ensuring that every baht is spent on projects that are necessary and beneficial to the public.
This meeting, held in the southern region, reflects the government's desire to distribute priority across various regions. Having an oversight committee will enhance operational transparency and reduce the risk of budget misappropriation, which is a matter of great public interest and close monitoring.
In the next step, this committee will immediately begin reviewing projects proposed by various agencies. If any project lacks clarity or is not cost-effective, it will not be approved. The government hopes this measure will build public confidence that this borrowing will truly stimulate the economy and improve the quality of life for the Thai people.
