Thailand accelerates FTA negotiations with the European Union, aiming to boost economy and investment
The Thai government is continuously pushing forward with negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Thailand and the European Union (EU) to increase trade opportunities and attract more foreign investors to conduct business in Thailand. It is believed that this agreement will be a key mechanism in elevating the country's economy for stable long-term growth.
Recently, the Thai Trade Representative met with over 30 leading business executives from Europe, representing 25 renowned companies. This meeting focused on exchanging views regarding trade barriers and ways to improve various regulations to align with international standards, which will help make business between Thailand and Europe more convenient and efficient.
These FTA negotiations are considered a significant step toward opening doors to new markets for Thai entrepreneurs, particularly in the industrial and service sectors. Furthermore, it serves to build confidence among foreign investors that Thailand is prepared and has policies conducive to long-term investment, which will have a positive impact on employment and the development of Thai labor skills in the future.
Both sides remain committed to accelerating the negotiations to reach a conclusion as quickly as possible, ensuring maximum benefits for all sectors. The Thai government has affirmed that it will conduct the negotiations carefully to ensure the agreement benefits Thai entrepreneurs at all levels and remains open to suggestions from the private sector to be applied in the next round of talks.
