Department of Health upgrades 1,800 SEhRT teams nationwide, ready to handle all health crises

The Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health, has announced an upgrade to the environmental health management system for emergencies to ensure public safety and timely care during unexpected events, focusing on maximizing the readiness of personnel and operational systems.

The core of this project is to enhance the potential of the Sanitary Environmental Health Response Team (SEhRT) network, which currently consists of over 1,800 teams distributed across all areas of Thailand, enabling them to access and resolve issues at the local level rapidly.

In addition to local operational teams, the Department of Health has integrated its work with 13 Department of Health Emergency Operations Centers (DOH EOC) nationwide to serve as hubs for coordination, command, and resource support in responding to all forms of health crises, whether they be natural disasters or issues related to pollution and the environment.

This operation marks a significant step in building health security for the Thai people, focusing on the systematic prevention and management of environmental health risks to reduce long-term impacts on public health.

In summary, the synergy between the SEhRT network and the EOC centers will provide Thailand with a stronger surveillance and emergency response system, ensuring public confidence that there are agencies ready to effectively manage health and environmental problems in any situation.
