EC reveals results of Senate election case, orders prosecution of some candidates while dismissing 135 petitions
The Election Commission (EC) has disclosed details regarding its resolution on the recent Senate election case, focusing on allegations of election collusion and violations of candidate self-introduction regulations, which are issues that have garnered significant public interest.
Following a fact-finding investigation, the EC has categorized the candidates into two main groups. The first group consists of those whom the commission has resolved to prosecute; it will file petitions with the Supreme Court and pursue criminal proceedings according to the law, as clear evidence of misconduct in violation of election regulations was found.
At the same time, the EC has resolved to dismiss the petitions against 135 candidates. For this group, the commission will not file petitions with the Supreme Court, and no criminal proceedings will be taken, as it determined that the available evidence was insufficient to substantiate the charges or did not constitute an offense under the allegations.
This decision marks a significant step in verifying the transparency of the recent Senate election, ensuring fairness for all parties involved and adhering strictly to the procedures of election law.
The conclusion of this matter reflects the EC's diligent and thorough screening of various cases. Moving forward, the legal process for those facing prosecution will proceed to the courts to reach a clear and fair resolution for Thailand's democratic process.
