Democrat Party urges EC to expedite investigation into Senate election collusion, warns of legal consequences for negligence
The Democrat Party has taken action regarding allegations of collusion in the Senate election, with the party expressing a clear stance that it wants this matter to be investigated transparently and fairly to maintain confidence in Thailand's democratic system.
Representatives from the Democrat Party addressed the Election Commission (EC), stating that as the agency directly responsible, the EC must expedite a serious investigation into the facts surrounding the Senate election process, which has been questioned by society, in order to provide clarity to the public.
Furthermore, the Democrat Party emphasized that if the EC neglects its duties or ignores the investigation into the case, it could potentially constitute an offense under Section 157 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to malfeasance in office or the intentional omission of duty.
The party is preparing to hold a meeting to vote and determine a clear position on this matter once again, hoping that the investigation process will lead to a resolution and ensure that the Senate election is conducted in accordance with the law and is accepted by all citizens.
