NACC accelerates investigation into local government official exam corruption case, aiming to close the case within 6 months
The Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has revealed significant progress regarding the corruption case involving competitive examinations for local government official positions, an issue that has garnered considerable public interest due to its impact on the transparency of the Thai civil service system.
Preliminary investigations have uncovered evidence linking to corruption in the 2021 examinations, with the illicit funds circulating within this scheme estimated at over 1 billion baht. This is considered a complex case with numerous details that require thorough examination to ensure justice for all examinees.
A major obstacle in the investigation is the massive volume of documents involved, totaling over 800,000 pages, which makes standard manual review time-consuming. However, the NACC has decided to utilize modern technology to assist in managing and analyzing the data to increase the speed and accuracy of the investigation.
The NACC has set a goal to expedite the proceedings and conclude the case within 6 months so that the public can be informed of the facts and those responsible can be held accountable under the law. The agency reaffirms its commitment to acting with integrity and scrutinizing every aspect with the utmost care.
