PM Opens THAIDEF-EX 2026, Aiming to Develop Thailand’s Defense Industry
On July 8, 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony of THAIDEF-EX 2026 at the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Defence in Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi Province. This event is a significant defense technology and industry exhibition, showcasing Thailand's potential in developing self-defense technology and equipment.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government aims to support Thailand's defense industry to become more self-reliant. Domestic production of various equipment will help reduce imports from abroad and create new economic opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs, which will enhance the country's international competitiveness.
During the opening, Mr. Anutin mentioned the concept of "Make Love, Not War" to convey that although Thailand is developing military technology, the primary goal is solely to maintain peace and national defense, not for warfare. Therefore, the development of this industry focuses on security and the use of technology for the safety of the public as a priority.
THAIDEF-EX 2026 has garnered interest from both the public and private sectors, featuring many interesting new innovations. This event is considered a significant step demonstrating that Thailand is ready to become a leader in defense technology within the ASEAN region in the future.
