Thailand Partners with Switzerland to Elevate Domestic Pharmaceutical Production for Public Health Security
Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, presided over a significant signing ceremony for a partnership between the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) of Thailand and Sandoz, a global leader in pharmaceuticals from Switzerland, to strengthen Thailand's drug security and public health system.
This collaboration is part of the government's policy to drive Thailand toward becoming a Medical Hub, focusing on technology transfer and increasing the capacity for high-quality domestic drug production to reduce long-term reliance on imported medicines.
Partnering with Sandoz will enable the Government Pharmaceutical Organization to access international innovation and expertise, which will benefit the production of essential medicines for the Thai people, making them more affordable and ensuring safety according to international standards. Furthermore, it will bolster confidence in the Thai public health system on the global stage.
This project not only helps strengthen pharmaceutical security for Thailand but also creates opportunities to develop Thai medical personnel and pharmacists, enhancing their expertise. This marks a significant step toward improving the quality of life for citizens, ensuring they receive efficient and sustainable public health services in the future.
