Ministry of MHESI moves forward to propel Thailand into the Artificial Intelligence (AI) era
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) has announced a key strategic plan to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology as a primary mechanism for driving Thailand's economy and society, ensuring the nation keeps pace with global changes in the digital age.
The first approach prioritized by the Ministry is human resource development, focusing on building AI skills for students and the domestic workforce to ensure they are prepared to work alongside modern technology. Additionally, there is support for universities to offer more courses related to data science and artificial intelligence.
The second approach is the promotion of research and development, where the government will provide budget and resources to Thai researchers to create AI innovations that meet the needs of the domestic business and industrial sectors, such as applying AI in agriculture, medicine, and manufacturing to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
The final approach is to create an ecosystem conducive to AI adoption by collaborating with the private sector and international agencies to exchange knowledge, as well as establishing laws and standards for AI usage to ensure safety and fairness, thereby building confidence among the public and investors utilizing services in Thailand.
Driving these three strategic areas is considered a significant step that will help Thailand become more competitive on the international stage. The Ministry of MHESI expects that the adoption of AI will help improve the quality of life for Thai people and create sustainable economic growth in the future.
