IMF reveals 2024 Asia-Pacific economic outlook, focusing on stable growth
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released its latest report on the economic outlook for the Asia-Pacific region, stating that the region's economy remains robust and continues to be a key driver of the global economy, despite facing challenges from several external factors.
The report indicates that economic growth in Asian countries is supported by domestic consumption and the recovery of the tourism sector, particularly in ASEAN countries, which have begun to show clearer signs of expansion. However, the IMF has cautioned countries to remain vigilant regarding inflation, which remains volatile, as well as the impact of monetary policies from major economies.
For Thailand, the report points out that exports and tourism will be the primary factors supporting the economy this year. Although the manufacturing sector continues to be affected by a slowdown in global market demand, the adaptability of Thai businesses and government support will help the economy grow steadily in line with set targets.
Furthermore, the IMF emphasized the importance of long-term structural economic reform, recommending that countries invest in technology and innovation to enhance competitiveness, as well as prepare for climate change, which is a critical issue affecting food and energy security in the region.
In summary, while the Asia-Pacific economy has a bright growth outlook, prudent policy implementation and international cooperation remain essential for the region to address new risks and maintain sustainable economic stability in the future.
