Government launches ‘Digital Shield’ to elevate cybercrime suppression as a national agenda
The Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have jointly launched the ‘Digital Shield’ project to enhance the prevention and suppression of cybercrime in Thailand. The government has declared this a national agenda to urgently address the issue of online scams that are currently causing significant damage to the public.
This project focuses on integrating cooperation between government agencies and the private sector to build a stronger and more rapid defense system. The primary goal is to break the cycle of scammers who use technology to deceive people, as well as to increase the efficiency of tracking financial trails and freezing mule accounts in a timely manner.
In addition to legal and technological measures, the government is also prioritizing public awareness. It emphasizes that users of social media and digital banking systems must remain vigilant and carefully verify information before deciding to transfer money, in order to avoid falling victim to scammers who frequently employ new tactics to lure their targets.
The implementation of the Digital Shield project marks a significant step for Thailand in creating online safety for all citizens. The government expects that this collaboration will help reduce the number of technological crime cases and build long-term confidence in the country's digital economy.
