A technical error leads to a complete collapse of the Odido network
The telecommunications company Odido has restored the phone network after a widespread outage across the Netherlands due to a technical failure that occurred on Wednesday. Hundreds of thousands of customers reported connection issues, but the company confirmed that there were no signs of a cyber attack.
The situation escalated when the technical support teams attempted to address the initial malfunction, as the incorrect backup routing method caused a complete disconnection from the network. The malfunction affected all Odido brands, including Simpel and Ben, exacerbating the issue.
The company has managed to restart the network in phases over the past hours, with a promise that the service will return to normal within the next hour. Odido explained that activating airplane mode for a few seconds and then turning it off could help some users restore their connection.
A spokesperson for Odido denied any connection between the outage and a cyber attack or sabotage, especially during the ongoing NATO summit in The Hague. The cause of the technical failure has not been revealed, but the company confirms that it has fully resolved the issue.
