A New Era at Sea from ASELSAN: KILIÇ and TUFAN Enter Mass Production
Turkey's defense industry giant, ASELSAN, has taken a significant step to strengthen its power at sea. The company announced that it has begun mass production of the unmanned surface vessels named KILIÇ and TUFAN, which were first introduced at the SAHA 2026 fair.
The KILIÇ and TUFAN systems were developed with modern naval warfare technologies in mind. These vehicles aim to play a critical role in maritime security thanks to their autonomous movement capabilities and advanced sensor technologies. They are particularly expected to demonstrate high performance in reconnaissance, surveillance, and patrol missions.
Defense industry experts state that such unmanned systems will significantly increase the operational capacity of the Turkish Naval Forces. Unmanned surface vessels provide the advantage of being able to operate in high-risk areas without endangering human lives.
This move by ASELSAN is also in line with Turkey's goals of reducing foreign dependency in domestic and national defense technologies. With the start of mass production, these systems are planned to be added to the Turkish Navy's inventory in the near future.
