Konya Hosts Health Project for the Hearing Impaired

Necmettin Erbakan University hosted an important project supported by the European Union. The "CARES-Deaf – Quality Mental Health Access for the Deaf" project, carried out within the scope of the Erasmus+ program, came to the fore with an international meeting held in Turkey.

The main objective of the project is to ensure that hearing-impaired individuals can more easily access healthcare services, particularly in the field of mental health. In this context, project partners from different countries gathered in Konya to evaluate the ongoing efforts.

During the meeting, communication problems faced by hearing-impaired individuals in healthcare institutions and strategies developed to resolve these issues were discussed. Experts drew attention to the importance of increasing the sign language proficiency of healthcare workers.

This study, conducted through international cooperation, aims to support the more active participation of disabled individuals in social life. The project partners exchanged ideas on how the data obtained could be integrated into health policies in the coming period.

This event, hosted by Necmettin Erbakan University, once again demonstrated Turkey's active role in international projects regarding disability rights and accessibility in healthcare. The efforts are expected to improve the quality of life for hearing-impaired citizens.
