Warning from Experts on 'Counterfeit Drugs': Pay Attention to Names
The names of some businesses operating in the healthcare sector in Turkey continue to confuse citizens. In particular, some shops using foreign names such as “Drug Store,” “Health Shop,” and “Vitamin Shop” create the impression among the public that they are real pharmacies or official drug retail outlets.
Experts making statements on the subject point out that the legal status of such businesses is different from that of pharmacies. It is emphasized that citizens need to be more careful when purchasing medicines and dietary supplements in order to protect their health.
Experts state that products purchased from places that do not carry a pharmacy sign or do not have an official license can pose serious health risks. In particular, the possibility that drugs purchased over the internet or from such unregulated points may be counterfeit directly threatens public health.
Authorities remind the public that medicines and similar health products should only be obtained from pharmacies. It is of great importance that citizens question the legal status of a business before purchasing a product and avoid shopping at unreliable locations.
