Access Block Imposed on News Site T24
An access block has been imposed on T24, one of the news sites operating in Turkey. This decision, implemented by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), has prevented internet users from accessing the site.
As the justification for the access block, 118 different news reports and articles published on T24 over the past year were cited. Authorities claimed that this content was "aimed at undermining the Turkish family structure."
In a statement regarding the matter, T24 management reacted to the decision. The news site stated that they operate within the framework of journalistic principles and expressed that the access block is concerning in terms of press freedom.
Access blocks on internet content in Turkey continue to be a recurring issue. How the legal processes will proceed and whether the site will be made accessible again will become clear in the coming days.
