Electric Vehicle Production Begins at Hyundai's İzmit Plant
A significant development has taken place in the automotive world. Hyundai has launched a new investment period at its İzmit plant with the aim of increasing its production capacity in Turkey. This move is seen as one of the biggest steps taken within the scope of the company's electric vehicle strategy.
Hyundai has invested 250 million euros in its facility in İzmit. Thanks to this investment, the factory has reached an annual production capacity of 30,000 electric vehicles. Assembly of the brand's popular electric model, the IONIQ 3, has begun on the new production line.
This development strengthens Turkey's position in the automotive sector. The İzmit plant is now becoming Hyundai's electric vehicle production hub for the European market. Thanks to domestic production, the electric vehicle supply chain in the region is also expected to accelerate.
This production move in Turkey is of great importance in terms of both employment and technology transfer. At a time when interest in electric vehicles is increasing, Turkey becoming one of the production centers is welcomed by industry representatives. This investment by Hyundai will also affect competition in the automotive market in the coming years.
