Turkey’s New Laser Weapon Ready Against Aerial Threats
Turkey’s defense industry achieves a new success every passing day. The Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) introduced its newly developed laser weapon system to the public for the first time as part of SAHA EXPO. This new technology aims to enhance Turkey’s air defense capacity using modern methods.
The new laser weapon system was specifically designed against low-cost and fast-moving targets. Today, small but dangerous vehicles such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are known as targets that are difficult and expensive to hit with traditional missiles. The laser weapon can neutralize such threats much more economically and rapidly.
One of the system's greatest advantages is the lack of ammunition limitations. Powered by electrical energy, this weapon can fire continuously without the need for traditional bullets or missiles. This reduces operational costs while allowing defense systems to remain active on the battlefield for longer periods.
Developed by MKE, this indigenous and national system is considered a major step toward Turkey’s technological independence. Experts state that laser weapons will play a much more significant role in the battlefields of the future. With this new technology, Turkey continues to strengthen its position in the modern defense world.
