A New Step in Electronic Warfare Technology from the US
The United States has launched a significant technology investment to enhance the defense capabilities of its air forces. The U.S. Department of Defense has signed a contract with L3Harris for next-generation electronic warfare pods to be used on EA-18G Growler aircraft.
This new system, called NGJ-LB, is designed to target low-frequency search radars. Thanks to this technology, Growler aircraft will be able to detect enemy radars from much greater distances and perform electronic jamming. Thus, the aircraft will be able to carry out their missions at a safe distance without approaching threats.
Electronic warfare systems are of vital importance in today's modern air warfare. Neutralizing enemy radars allows friendly aircraft to move more freely in the region. With the development of these new pods, the U.S.'s airspace control and defense capabilities are expected to be significantly strengthened.
Such technological developments in the defense industry directly affect global military balances. Innovations in the field of electronic warfare, in particular, are causing countries to revise their air defense strategies. This project, which will be carried out by L3Harris, is expected to become standard equipment in air operations in the coming years.
