Turkey’s Tourism Revenue Increased in the Summer Period of 2024

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shared tourism data for the third quarter of 2024 with the public. During this period, covering the months of July, August, and September, a remarkable increase was observed in Turkey's tourism revenues. The announced figures once again demonstrated how critically important tourism is for the Turkish economy.

According to the data, tourism revenue in the third quarter of 2024 increased by 3.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. With this increase, total revenue reached 23 billion 219 million 751 thousand dollars. The rise in the number of tourists during the summer months also led to an increase in the amount of foreign currency entering the country.

A large portion of this revenue was generated from foreign visitors. In addition, the fact that Turkish citizens living abroad preferred Turkey for their holidays was also reflected positively in the figures. It was noted that visitors spent the most in areas such as accommodation, food and beverage, and transportation.

The tourism sector plays a major role in Turkey in terms of both creating employment and closing the current account deficit. This growth in the summer season was welcomed with joy, especially by local tradesmen and hotel operators in tourism regions. Experts emphasize that Turkey's cultural and natural riches continue to attract tourists.

In conclusion, the summer period of 2024 was successfully completed for Turkish tourism. Similar activity is expected to continue for the remainder of the year, reaching tourism targets. These data prove that Turkey maintains its strong position in the global tourism market.
