New Laser Weapon System for Air Defense from MKE
The Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) has developed a new technology to strengthen Turkey’s air defense capacity. The company announced that it has made a new laser weapon system, which is integrated into existing air defense systems, ready for use.
This new system was developed in line with Turkey’s domestic production goals in the defense industry. The laser weapon aims to provide an effective solution, particularly against short-range aerial threats. Thanks to its rapid response capability, the system provides a significant advantage on modern battlefields.
In addition to the laser weapon system, acoustic detection systems and ENFAL-17 missiles have also been added to the air defense platform. Through this integration, the system can detect threats from a greater distance and neutralize them using different methods.
Defense experts state that such systems play a critical role in providing protection, especially against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Turkey continues to enhance its airspace security with the domestic defense technologies it has developed in recent years.
This new development is seen as part of the process of modernizing the Turkish Armed Forces' air defense inventory. The system developed by MKE is expected to be actively used in the field in the coming period.
