MKE Strengthens Air Defense Systems with New Laser Technology
The Machinery and Chemical Industry (MKE) has taken a significant step to increase Turkey's air defense capacity. The institution announced that it has integrated a new, high-tech 'Laser Weapon System' into existing air defense systems.
This new system is not limited to laser technology alone. As part of the developments, acoustic detection systems and ENFAL-17 missiles have also been added to the defense system. It is stated that thanks to this integration, the system will be able to detect and destroy aerial threats much faster and more effectively.
Acoustic detection systems provide early warning by analyzing the sounds of incoming aerial vehicles. While the ENFAL-17 missiles meet the need for long-range defense, the Laser Weapon System offers a critical solution, especially against low-cost aerial threats that require rapid intervention.
This project, which is part of Turkey's domestic production initiatives in the defense industry, aims to modernize the security of the country's airspace. These systems, developed by MKE, are expected to be actively used in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces in the coming period.
