Relocation of a refugee family to Vienna after years of complaints from neighbors
In the Austrian city of Tulln, panic spread in a residential complex after residents endured years of disturbance and problems caused by a Ukrainian refugee family consisting of a mother and her four children. The residents of Kerschbaumergasse expressed their relief after the family was finally moved to a shelter in southern Vienna, in cooperation with the state of Lower Austria.
The daily problems included repeated nighttime disturbances, hurtful insults to the residents, and deliberate vandalism in the building, in addition to leaving the basement in a state of chaos and severe pollution. Despite the municipality's repeated attempts to intervene, including repeated warnings from the official Alfreda Pfeiffer, the family's behavior did not improve.
With all solutions exhausted, the family decided to move to an alternative location outside the city. Upon leaving, the family members left behind an apartment and a basement in terrible condition, filled with neglected items and waste.
Alfreda Pfeiffer emphasized that what happened is an individual case, stressing that most of the refugees in the city respect the laws and behave politely, and form a positive part of the community.
