The world needs $680 billion annually to upgrade food systems
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has released a report detailing the need for large-scale investment in global agriculture. According to expert estimates, about $680 billion is needed annually until 2030 to transform the world's agrifood systems.
These funds should be directed toward fighting hunger, adapting to climate change, and implementing new technologies. Experts emphasize that modern food production methods require modernization to provide the planet's population with high-quality products while simultaneously reducing environmental harm.
For Ukraine, which is one of the key food exporters, this issue is of particular importance. Investments in the agricultural sector will help not only to restore logistics chains damaged by the war but also to make Ukrainian production more resilient to global challenges.
Attracting such resources will allow farmers to use more efficient land cultivation methods and reduce energy consumption. This will also contribute to the stability of food prices in both domestic and international markets.
Thus, the global transformation of the agrifood sector is a necessary step for future food security. Cooperation between states and international organizations will help attract the necessary investments and ensure the sustainable development of agriculture worldwide.
