Ukraine's international reserves: the situation in July

As of the beginning of August, the National Bank of Ukraine released data on the state of the country's international reserves. In July, the volume of Ukraine's foreign exchange reserves decreased slightly, amounting to 37.2 billion US dollars. Despite this decline, the figure remains at a level that allows for maintaining the stability of the national currency.

The decrease in reserves in July was expected and linked to several factors. The main reason was public debt payments, specifically the repayment and servicing of government external loan bonds. The volume of reserves was also affected by the National Bank's interventions in the foreign exchange market, which were conducted to balance supply and demand.

At the same time, Ukraine continues to receive financial assistance from international partners. In July, funds from the European Union and other donors were received into the budget. These inflows partially offset the expenditures directed toward debt payments and support for the hryvnia, which helped keep reserves at a sufficient level.

The National Bank of Ukraine notes that the current volume of reserves is sufficient to fulfill the state's obligations and carry out current operations. The regulator continues to monitor the situation in the foreign exchange market to ensure macroeconomic stability under martial law.

Experts emphasize that international financial support remains critically important for Ukraine. It is expected that the receipt of new tranches from international financial institutions in the coming months will help stabilize the level of reserves and ensure the country's financial resilience.
