Vitaliy Kim: state support for veterans needs to be reviewed

The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, has stated that there is a need for a significant increase in funding for veteran programs. According to him, the state currently spends an average of 1,400 hryvnias per year on one veteran, which is an insufficient amount for the full rehabilitation and socialization of the defenders.

During a discussion on the problems of veteran policy, Kim emphasized that the issue of supporting those who have returned from the front must become a priority for all levels of government. Modern challenges require not only medical assistance but also the creation of conditions for professional retraining and psychological support for former military personnel.

In the opinion of the regional head, the effective integration of veterans into civilian life is impossible without the involvement of businesses and local communities. It is important to develop new mechanisms that will allow veterans to feel needed and protected after their service ends, rather than just receiving formal payments.

Currently, a discussion is underway in Ukraine regarding the reform of the veteran policy system. The government is considering the possibility of introducing new programs that will help veterans start their own businesses and receive high-quality medical care in modern rehabilitation centers.

Ensuring a decent standard of living for veterans remains one of the most important tasks for Ukrainian society. It is expected that in the near future, the state will present an updated funding and support plan that will help change the situation for the better.
