Ukraine faces a shortage of nurses compared to EU countries

Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko has reported a serious problem in the national healthcare system. According to him, the number of nurses in the country is significantly lower than in European Union member states.

According to official data, there are approximately 30% fewer nurses per doctor and patient in Ukraine than in European countries. This discrepancy affects the organization of work in hospitals and the quality of patient care.

The Minister emphasized that nurses play a key role in the treatment process. The shortage of mid-level medical personnel creates an additional burden on doctors and can worsen the conditions under which care is provided to patients.

The Ministry of Health is currently analyzing the situation to find ways to solve this problem. Attracting new personnel and improving working conditions are important tasks for bringing Ukrainian medicine closer to European standards.
