Ukraine and the EU strengthen cooperation in combating financial irregularities
The Head of the State Audit Service of Ukraine, Alla Basalaieva, paid a working visit to Brussels. During the trip, she held an official meeting with the new Director-General of the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), Petr Klement.
The main topic of the negotiations was strengthening cooperation between Ukrainian auditors and European partners. The parties discussed mechanisms for monitoring the use of financial resources provided to Ukraine for the restoration and development of the state. Effective monitoring of these funds is an important step on the path toward European integration.
During the meeting, Alla Basalaieva emphasized the importance of transparency in the use of international aid. Representatives of OLAF, for their part, confirmed their readiness to provide Ukraine with the necessary advisory and technical support for implementing the best European practices in the field of financial control.
This cooperation is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to combat corruption and increase trust from international donors. Strengthening interaction with OLAF will help Ukrainian specialists adapt internal procedures to European Union standards more quickly.
The results of the visit are intended to form the basis for future joint projects aimed at protecting the financial interests of both Ukraine and the EU. Both sides agreed to continue a regular dialogue to exchange experience and promptly address current tasks.
