Ukraine and Poland discuss the resumption of search operations at burial sites
The issue of conducting exhumation work on Polish territory remains relevant for Ukrainian-Polish relations. For over a year, Ukraine has been awaiting official permission from the Polish side to begin search operations and the reburial of victims of historical events from the last century.
This topic is an important part of the dialogue between Kyiv and Warsaw. The Ukrainian side has repeatedly emphasized its readiness for cooperation in order to honor the memory of the deceased and close difficult chapters of shared history. Representatives of both countries are holding consultations to find a compromise solution that will satisfy both parties.
The Polish side, for its part, points to the complexity of the procedures and the need to comply with certain legal requirements. It is expected that new meetings at the level of the ministries of culture and the institutes of national memory of the two states will take place in the near future to discuss specific steps.
The resumption of exhumation work is of great importance for the families of the deceased and for the development of good-neighborly relations between Ukraine and Poland. Both countries strive to resolve this issue in a constructive manner, respecting historical memory and international norms.
Currently, the waiting process continues, but diplomats from both countries express hope for a swift resolution of the problem. Further steps will depend on the results of future negotiations and the readiness of both sides to make concessions on complex historical issues.
