The National Health Service is changing the funding rules for surgical departments
Starting July 1, the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) is introducing new requirements for medical institutions. From now on, state funding for surgical departments will depend on the number of operations performed. Hospitals that perform fewer than 600 complex surgical interventions per year will no longer receive state funding for this area.
This decision will directly affect the operation of the surgical department in Domanivka. Because the local hospital does not reach the established threshold of 600 operations, the department will lose state funding. This means that patients will have to seek planned surgical care at other medical institutions.
Representatives of the NHSU explain that such changes are aimed at improving the quality of medical services. According to experts, doctors who perform a large number of operations have more experience and better treatment outcomes. Thus, the state wants to concentrate resources in large centers, where medical care will be more professional and safe.
Local authorities and the management of medical institutions are currently looking for ways to solve this problem. It is expected that the changes will pose a challenge for small communities, where access to specialized care may become more difficult. Patients are advised to find out in advance about the availability of surgical services at their hospitals after July 1.
