New Ministry for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Created in Ukraine
On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine made an important decision regarding the reorganization of the executive branch structure. Parliament officially approved the creation of a new agency — the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
This decision is part of large-scale changes to the composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine under the leadership of Serhiy Koretskyi. The main goal of creating the new ministry is to improve the coordination of assistance for people who were forced to leave their homes due to the war, and to develop regional infrastructure more effectively.
Currently, the process of forming the new government is ongoing. After the vote to create the ministry, it became known that some key positions in the Cabinet of Ministers, in particular the position of Minister of Defense, remain vacant. It is expected that parliament will consider candidates for these positions in the near future.
The creation of a separate ministry to work with IDPs underscores the priority of social support for citizens in state policy. The new body will be responsible for the integration of displaced persons into communities, as well as providing them with housing and social services.
Additional clarifications regarding the powers of the new ministry and the appointment of its head are expected in the coming days. These changes are intended to help the state respond more quickly to challenges related to the consequences of military actions and the needs of Ukrainian communities.
