From April 1, the sick leave accrual system is being updated in Ukraine
Starting April 1, changes to the system for processing and paying sick leave certificates will begin in Ukraine. These innovations are aimed at making the payment process more transparent and convenient for both employees and employers.
The main change is the transition to a fully electronic document management format. Now, the "certificate of incapacity for work" is an official digital document that is automatically generated in the electronic healthcare system. This allows for the avoidance of paperwork and speeds up the process of accruing funds.
To receive payments, employees no longer need to personally submit paper certificates to the HR department. Once a doctor fills out the electronic document, it is automatically entered into the Pension Fund of Ukraine's registry. The employer sees this document in their account and begins the benefit calculation procedure.
The amount of payments will, as before, depend on the employee's insurance record and their average salary over the last few months. The state guarantees that all social payments will be accrued on time, provided that all data in the system is entered correctly.
Experts advise Ukrainians to check their data in their electronic accounts and ensure that employers have access to the system. These changes are part of the overall digitalization of public services that is ongoing in Ukraine to improve the quality of service for citizens.
