Fuel Prices May Drop & Sanctions News
Today's review focuses on changes in energy costs and new steps by allies regarding restrictions against Russia. Global oil prices have decreased, creating the preconditions for cheaper gasoline in Ukraine, while discussions continue in Europe regarding an entry ban for Russian military personnel.
The cost of fuel at Ukrainian gas stations may decrease following the fall in global oil prices. The global benchmark Brent briefly dropped below $72.48 per barrel—a level seen before the start of the conflict with Iran. Since raw material prices have returned to previous levels, this should lead to a reduction in retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel for drivers.
At the same time, disagreements have arisen in the European Union regarding new sanctions: Italy and France are blocking a proposal to ban former Russian occupiers from entering the bloc's territory. Despite this, France has increased pressure on Russia's "shadow fleet"—vessels used to bypass international restrictions. The French navy intercepted the tanker Deliver off the coast of Sicily, which violated maritime law while transporting oil.
On an international level, Ukrainian military technologies are finding new applications: US special forces used Magura naval drones for the first time. During exercises in the Philippines, American special forces successfully attacked a decommissioned ship with these drones, testing the Ukrainian development in Pacific Ocean conditions.
