President Zelenskyy outlines conditions for holding elections in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the state is ready to hold elections, but specific security conditions are required for this to happen. The head of state named a ceasefire across the entire territory of the country for 60 days as the primary requirement.

According to the president, organizing an electoral process during a full-scale war is an extremely complex task. The main obstacles remain the safety of citizens, the impossibility of voting for millions of refugees abroad, and the protection of polling stations from Russian attacks.

Zelenskyy emphasized that if Ukraine's partners ensure 60 days of complete silence, it would allow preparations for voting to begin. This would make it possible to ensure the transparency of the elections and the safety of every voter who comes to a polling station.

Currently, martial law is in effect in Ukraine, which, according to legislation, prohibits the holding of any elections. Politicians and experts have repeatedly noted that elections will become possible only after the security situation allows for guaranteeing stability in the country.

The issue of holding elections remains a subject of discussion both within Ukraine and at the international level. The authorities emphasize that the priority remains the protection of sovereignty and the end of the war, and the electoral process must take place exclusively after the situation on the front line has stabilized.
