National Health Service changes funding rules for surgical departments
Starting July 1, new requirements for the operation of medical facilities will come into effect in Ukraine. The National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) is ceasing funding for surgical departments where doctors perform fewer than 600 complex operations per year.
This decision will directly affect the operation of many hospitals in small settlements. In particular, the surgical department in Domanivka is facing a funding cut. Local facilities that do not meet the new criteria regarding the number of procedures performed will no longer be able to receive state funds for this service.
Representatives of the NHSU explain that such changes are necessary to improve the quality of medical services. According to experts, surgeons must have constant practice to ensure patient safety and successful surgical outcomes. A high volume of procedures allows medical professionals to maintain the necessary level of professional skill.
Currently, local authorities and hospital management are looking for ways to adapt to the new conditions. Patients in need of elective surgical care are advised to contact medical centers that meet the NHSU requirements and continue to receive state funding.
