IMF recommends Ukraine improve VAT administration
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has provided recommendations regarding tax reform in Ukraine. The main condition for further changes to the taxation system is the improvement of the value-added tax (VAT) administration process. Fund experts emphasize that this should be a priority before extending VAT to those on the simplified taxation system.
Currently, there is an ongoing discussion in Ukraine about how to make the tax system more efficient and transparent. The IMF believes that before expanding the tax base, it is necessary to ensure the stable operation of tax authorities. This will help avoid problems for small businesses and make tax payments more convenient for entrepreneurs.
Improving administration involves the digitalization of processes and the reduction of bureaucratic obstacles. Thanks to modern technologies, the state will be able to better control tax collection, and businesses will spend less time on reports. This is important for strengthening Ukraine's economy under martial law.
Currently, the Ukrainian government continues to cooperate with international partners to fulfill its commitments. It is expected that the implementation of the IMF's recommendations will help create fairer conditions for all taxpayers and ensure stable revenues for the state budget.
