New plan for humanitarian demining of territories approved in Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has officially approved the procedure for developing a unified plan for humanitarian demining. This is an important step for the country's security, as significant areas of Ukrainian land remain contaminated with explosive ordnance due to the full-scale war. The new document will help to better coordinate the work of government services and international partners.
According to the new procedure, planning will be based on the analysis of dangerous territories. Specialists will identify priority areas that require clearance first. This applies not only to agricultural land but also to areas near settlements where people live and critical infrastructure operates.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the State Emergency Service will be involved in the demining process. Active cooperation is also planned with international organizations that provide Ukraine with special equipment and experienced instructors. A unified plan will allow for the avoidance of task duplication and accelerate the process of returning land to safe use.
It is expected that the implementation of this system will make the process of clearing Ukrainian land of mines more transparent and efficient. This is critically important for the recovery of the economy, particularly the agricultural sector, and for the safety of civilians returning to their homes in de-occupied territories.
