Ukraine is in negotiations with Poland regarding the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets
Ukraine continues negotiations with the Polish government regarding the receipt of additional military assistance to protect its airspace. The main topic of discussion is the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets, which are currently in service with the Polish army, to the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to official sources, Kyiv is proposing new formats of cooperation. Ukraine is interested not only in receiving aircraft but also in a broader exchange of technology and equipment. In particular, the possibility of supplying Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in exchange for Polish aviation equipment is being discussed.
The Polish side emphasizes that any decision regarding the transfer of combat aircraft must be coordinated with NATO partners. Warsaw stresses the importance of supporting Ukraine's defense capabilities, but it must also take into account its own security needs and the state of its aviation fleet.
These negotiations are part of a broader strategy by Ukraine to strengthen its air defense. Obtaining additional MiG-29s will allow Ukrainian pilots to perform combat missions more effectively, using equipment with which they already have experience.
At present, the parties are continuing consultations to find mutually beneficial solutions. It is expected that the details of the future agreement will be released after all diplomatic coordination between the countries is completed.
