How Ukrainian business is overcoming the naval blockade: the experience of the Interpipe company
Despite the difficult conditions of the war and constant enemy attacks, Ukrainian enterprises continue to operate and seek new ways to export their products. One example of adaptation to the new reality is the industrial company Interpipe, which faced serious logistical challenges due to the blockade of seaports.
At the end of July, Russian forces carried out a series of missile and drone attacks on the port infrastructure of the Odesa region. These actions led to the effective shutdown of seaports, which had previously been the main hubs for shipping Ukrainian goods abroad. This situation jeopardized the stability of export supplies for many domestic manufacturers.
Interpipe was forced to quickly change its logistics strategy in order to avoid halting production and to fulfill orders for international partners on time. Instead of sea routes, the company reoriented toward using rail and road transport to ship products to European countries.
Despite a significant increase in logistics costs and the complexity of the new routes, the company was able to maintain its export volumes. This experience demonstrates the high resilience of Ukrainian business, which, despite the risks of war, continues to support the state's economy and fulfill its obligations in the global market.
