Ukrainians will be able to receive medical care in EU countries under new rules
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved an important draft law concerning the healthcare sector. The document provides for the implementation of cross-border medical care rules that comply with European Union standards. This is a step toward integrating the Ukrainian medical system with the European one.
According to the new rules, citizens of Ukraine will have the opportunity to undergo treatment or receive certain medical services in EU countries. This will allow patients to have broader access to specialized care that may be unavailable or limited in Ukraine due to martial law conditions or technical reasons.
The state plans to take financial responsibility for such services. In cases provided for by law, Ukraine will pay for treatment or reimburse expenses incurred by citizens. This will significantly facilitate access to necessary therapy for many Ukrainians who are abroad or require the assistance of European specialists.
The draft law still needs to be reviewed by the Verkhovna Rada. After its adoption, the government will develop a detailed mechanism for the implementation of these services. It is expected that these changes will help improve the quality of medical care and bring Ukraine closer to full membership in the European space.
