Polish President congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day and mentions historical issues
The President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, sent an official letter to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day. In his address, the Polish leader congratulated the Ukrainian people on the holiday and expressed support for the country's fight for sovereignty.
Despite the friendly tone of the greeting, the letter touched upon the topic of difficult chapters in shared history. Karol Nawrocki noted that there are "tense issues" between the two countries that require further discussion and resolution. This concerns historical disputes that have long remained a subject of debate between Kyiv and Warsaw.
The Polish President's office officially disclosed the content of the letter, emphasizing the importance of open dialogue. Nawrocki stressed that, despite differences in views on the past, Poland continues to support Ukraine in the face of the full-scale war launched by Russia.
This letter served as another reminder that historical issues remain part of the agenda in relations between the neighboring states. At the same time, experts note that the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland remains a priority for the security of all of Europe.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Ukrainian side regarding the content of the letter. It is expected that dialogue on historical topics will continue at the level of the diplomatic departments of both countries in the future.
