HACC takes defendants in the 'Forrest Gump' case into custody
The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) has made a decision regarding preventive measures for the defendants in the high-profile case known as 'Forrest Gump.' The court ordered that Valentyn Yelizarov, one of the key suspects in these proceedings, be taken into custody.
According to the court's decision, Valentyn Yelizarov will remain in custody, though he has the option to be released on bail. The set bail amount is 20 million hryvnias. In addition to Yelizarov, Maksym Mykytas has also been taken into custody in the same case.
The 'Forrest Gump' case concerns the investigation of corruption crimes handled by Ukraine's anti-corruption agencies. The details of the charges have not yet been fully disclosed, but the court's decision indicates the seriousness of the evidence gathered by the investigation.
At present, the suspects remain under the control of law enforcement agencies. The defense attorneys have the right to appeal the court's decision to a higher court if they consider the chosen preventive measure to be too severe.
This decision is part of the systemic fight against corruption in Ukraine. The case continues to be monitored by specialized anti-corruption prosecutors, who are preparing materials for further trial on the merits.
