European Union allocates over 6 billion euros to Ukraine to strengthen defense
The European Commission has officially approved the allocation of 6.1 billion euros in financial aid to Ukraine. These funds will be directed toward strengthening the country's defense capabilities and protecting critical infrastructure from air attacks.
Funding is provided under the special Ukraine Support Loan program. The bulk of this money will go toward the procurement of modern air defense systems, which is a critically important task for the safety of Ukrainian cities. Specifically, the aid package includes the supply of new PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems.
In addition to air defense systems, significant attention is being paid to the technological development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A portion of the allocated funds will be spent on the purchase of modern drones and other types of missile weaponry, which will help to more effectively counter enemy threats on the front lines.
This step is part of the European Union's long-term strategy to support Ukraine. It is expected that the new equipment will significantly strengthen the protection of Ukrainian skies and help save the lives of civilians amid ongoing hostilities.
