Large-scale special operation in Ukraine: gang selling dangerous weight-loss products exposed
Ukrainian law enforcement officers have conducted a large-scale special operation aimed at dismantling a criminal scheme for the production and sale of counterfeit medical products. Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General exposed a group of individuals who were illegally distributing a weight-loss product called "Biopatid."
According to the investigation, the perpetrators established the production and sale of the drug without any permits or state registration. This means that the quality and safety of the products were not controlled by anyone, which could pose a serious threat to the health of consumers who bought these counterfeits online.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers conducted more than 250 searches in various regions of Ukraine. As a result of these measures, 27 individuals involved in the case, who were directly engaged in the organization and sale of the counterfeit goods, were detained. According to preliminary estimates by investigators, the turnover of funds in this illegal scheme exceeded 5 million US dollars.
Investigative actions are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring those responsible to justice. Law enforcement officers urge citizens to be cautious and to purchase only certified medical products from official pharmacy chains so as not to put themselves in danger.
