Sport as support: how the "Carpathian Legion" project helps children from frontline regions
The Rating sociological group presented the results of a discussion dedicated to the impact of sports on the mental health of teenagers. This discussion took place during the presentation of a new social project called "Carpathian Legion," which is aimed at supporting children living in the frontline zones of Ukraine.
The main goal of the project is to create a safe space for young people who face stress due to the war every day. The organizers emphasize that physical activity and team games help teenagers not only to improve their physical condition but also to find psychological balance. Sport becomes an effective tool for overcoming anxiety and socialization in conditions of constant tension.
During the event, experts discussed how exactly sports activities affect the emotional state of children. According to specialists, regular training contributes to the production of joy hormones and helps to distract from negative thoughts. The "Carpathian Legion" project provides teenagers with the opportunity to change their environment, gain new skills, and find support among peers and coaches.
At the end of the presentation, the organizers emphasized the importance of such initiatives for the future generation of Ukrainians. They plan to expand the program so that as many children as possible from the affected regions can gain access to sports camps and active recreation. Such assistance is extremely important for preserving the mental health of young people during this difficult time.
